FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Senate and Assembly have approved a record $117.5 billion budget proposal, which would allocate more money for health care, child care, and public education.

However, Democratic leaders are at odds with Governor Jerry Brown, who’s worried the state may not see the revenue they’re predicting.

He, along with Republicans, has called for spending at least $2 billion less.

Negotiations continue at the capitol, as Democrats are hoping to earn Brown’s support.

The budget proposal had to be passed by midnight, so that lawmakers would continue to get paid.
