FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Republican Congressman Jeff Denham has successfully pushed a measure through the U.S. House of Representatives, which would nullify an agreement between the California High-speed Rail Authority, and the Federal Railroad Administration.
Essentially, it calls for the state to follow the agreement, that it would match federal aid dollar for dollar.
California has fallen behind, although the feds have modified the contract, to allow the money to continue to flow.
Denham’s measure would reverse that, but it’s not likely to survive in the Senate.
The administration says California’s transportation network is one of the most congested in the nation, and believes that high-speed rail is critical, to keep the Golden State moving forward.
