Caltrans held a ribbon cutting ceremony for a finished road project in Lemoore.
Caltrans and Granite Construction have been working on State Route 198 for the past two years, and this morning (June 11, 2015), the completion of the Northeast Quadrant of State Route 198 and 19th Avenue, at the City Park was celebrated.
This $36 million dollar project in Kings County was completed in May.
This project constructed a partial cloverleaf interchange with a new overcrossing bridge at 19th Avenue allowing access over State Route 198 and closed access to cross traffic at Vine Street (18½ Avenue), thereby increasing capacity, improving traffic operations and overall safety at this location.
“Probably one of the most crucial things for us is the safety. We had issues even thought that was partly County property, but we had City property over there and if we had fires or issues where the police needed to be called – it just took them longer to respond. This is just wonderful.” – Mayor Lois Wynne, City of Lemoore
