FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A $2 million program has been announced by the state treasurer, which will give small business owners and landlords an incentive to install electric vehicle charging stations.
Qualified California businesses will be able to obtain a loan from a financial institution, who will be offered coverage against losses from default.
Additionally, businesses may receive a rebate of up to 15% on the total charging station installation expense.
Treasurer John Chiang says despite California’s leading the nation in electric vehicle sales, millions of consumers don’t consider them to be a viable alternative, due to the lack of charging options.
Last week, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District announced its own grant program, for public charging stations.
