(KMJ) Investigators are using GoPro footage to help determine what led to the death of extreme athlete Dean Potter and his friend in a base jumping accident in Yosemite.
Potter and 29-year-old Graham Hunt jumped from Taft Point in Yosemite on Saturday wearing wingsuits when they were killed. BASE jumping is illegal at Yosemite.
The GoPro high definition camera was mounted to Potter’s helmet.
Yosemite officials say that Hunt was trying to fly through a narrow ridge opening when he slammed into a cliff. The video shows Potter swooping left, possibly trying to avoid Hunt. Potter then crashed into the same cliff a moment later.
