Memorial Day Travel Expected to Surge

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Even as gas prices have shot up at a remarkable rate, more than 4.4 million Californians plan to travel at least 50 miles away from home, for Memorial Day weekend.

According to AAA, that may be the largest overall number in a decade.

The vast majority will travel by car, while some will fly, and a smaller number will go by train.

If you do go by car, you can expect to see some pretty high prices at the pump. Here in Fresno, they’ve risen by more than 50 cents over the past month.
