FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — It’s a great deal… Work for the state, take home a handsome salary, with a Cadillac health plan, and then retire with a fat pension.

Come on, who could turn down a deal like that?

You’re right — no one.

But how do you take it a step further?

Oh… Move out of California, and reside in a state with a lower cost of living, and even better, avoid the Golden State’s income taxes.

According to a first-of-its-kind analysis by the Sacramento Bee, about 15% of CalPERS pensioners have left the state that fattened their wallets. They’ve moved to Florida, Oregon, Arizona, and, of course, Nevada.
