FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Bottles of budget motor oil would be done away with in California, if a bill written by Democratic Senator Ben Allen were to be approved.

It calls for requiring all oil sold in the state to provide at least 10,000 miles of lubrication.

Allen says lower standard oils waste money in the long run, as they don’t last as long, and fuel efficiency is reduced.

His measure now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
