Fresno State Students Helping Kids Impacted By Cancer

FRESNO (KMJ) — A group of Fresno State students are doing what they can to help children whose lives have been impacted by cancer in the family.

They’ve been going through extensive training – meeting for months – and are taking time out of their summer – all in the hope of bringing happiness to valley children.

They’re taking part in ‘Camp Kasem’ – a national organization started fifteen years ago.

“So the camp itself is designed to have children whose parents or primary care giver have had cancer”, says Camp Counselor to be Emilia Vargas.

“We help the kids go through their parents cancer, and we’re the first CSU to have a chapter – which is awesome”.

But they’re still looking for children to take part in the camp – due to be held at Camp Wowona in Yosemite National Park this August – and it’s open to kids aged 6 to 16.

Details on how to get involved can be found here.
