Fresno Unified is celebrating a rise in the number of students graduating.

Fresno Unified Superintendent, Michael Hanson credits the hard work by teachers, parents and students and recommendations the district has put in place for the rise in the number of students graduating high school.

The district measured the 4 year cohort graduation rate for the 2013-2014 year, and found it improved to 79.3 percent – a 3.1 % increase over the 2012-2013 year in the number of students graduating.

Hanson says programs like Edu-text where the school sends out alerts to cell phones about grades and missing homework are all helping parents get involved more with their kids.
