FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Golden State is on track to collect some $4 billion more than anticipated, according to the latest report from the Legislative Analyst’s Office.

Under California school funding law, schools and community colleges stand to benefit from a huge portion of that money.

But, depending on how much is taken in by the end of June, health and welfare programs could see more cash as well.

A proposal that would be eligible for funding calls for expanding family leave, increasing welfare payments, and boosting the number of child care slots.

California’s financial picture continues to get brighter; although, analysts say the state should spend cautiously, and work to pay down debts.
