FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The measure calls for preventing California cities and counties from issuing fines, for having a dead lawn amid the drought.
The governor is pushing major conservation, as the state deals with 4 years of severely dry conditions.
However, some code enforcement officers have continued to crack down, on those who’ve let the grass go brown in an effort to save water.
Many cities, including Fresno, have reduced the number of outdoor watering days, making a lush, green lawn more difficult to maintain.
The bill, which has passed the Assembly 74-0, now heads to the Senate.
