FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — PG&E wants to install thousands of electric vehicle charging stations.

But KMJ’s Aaron Abeytia asks who’s going to pay for them?

If approved by the public utilities commission, every PG&E customer.

The utility is proposing 25,000 chargers, which it says will help them do their part to meet clean air and climate goals.

Nothing is set in stone; but, a typical residential customer would see an increase of about 70 cents a month.

More than 60,000 electric cars are registered within PG&E’s service area, which account for more than a fifth of such vehicles in the U.S.
