Feds, State Partner Up for Drought Relief Program

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The feds are offering $50 million for drought relief in the west, as the Golden State enters a fourth year of drought.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell and Governor Jerry Brown announced the funding in Sacramento Friday morning.

It includes $20 million for the Central Valley Water Project, including water transfers, drought monitoring, and diversifying supplies.

The governor declared a drought emergency last January, and signed a $687 million relief package.
