FRESNO (KMJ) — Around a hundred volunteers are spending what would otherwise be a day off – working to get a valley middle school looking its best for Martin Luther King Jr day.
Painting – planting trees – and cleaning up classrooms. That's how the group of volunteers will be helping beautify Fresno's Fort Miller Middle School.
Among them are Kaiser Permanente staff.
"Today we're having a day on instead of a day off", says area pharmacy director Scott Shimamoto. "We're helping give back to our community".
This is the tenth year staff have been volunteering their day off. They've previously helped out the community food bank and habitat for humanity – but this is their first school they've worked on.
