VIDEO: Hiker Rescued with Help of CHP Chopper

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — An injured hiker brought to safety with the help of a California Highway Patrol chopper.

A 33-year-old North Hollywood woman had to spend the night in the cold after reportedly falling while hiking along the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River.

The CHP says on Friday around 2 p.m. she slid and fell approximately 15 feet before free falling another 15 feet into the river, leaving her unable to climb and hike out.

The next day she was able to make contact with a group of hikers and was hoisted out with the help of Pilot Officer Ty Blasingame and Flight Officer Paramedic Andrea Brown.

Officials say the fall caused significant, but non-life threatening injuries.
