So-called “Shovel-Swinging Burglar” Arrested

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — A so-called "shovel-swinging burglar" was arrested this weekend after reportedly attacking a homeowner near Sanger.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said Oscar Rojo, 24, tried to break into the home Saturday
night by using a golf club to smash in the front window.

After hearing the loud crashing noise, the homeowner went to check it out and discovered the man trying to get inside.

Investigators said the homeowner was able to get his wife and two daughters to safety and went to confront Rojo, who by that time had made his way to the backyard.

When asked what he wanted, Rojo said nothing, then grabbed a nearby shovel and began to swing it, chasing the homeowner to the driveway.

Rojo, who the Sheriff's Office says may have been under the influence of drugs, was arrested and later bailed out of jail.
