FRESNO (KMJ) — Hospitals valley wide are set to lose of their some federal medicare funding – because of standards of patient care.
Seventy nine hospitals California wide are going to face penalties because of excessive infection rates and patient injuries – referred to as 'hospital acquired conditions' – or HACs.
In Fresno they include Community Regional Medical Center, Saint Agnes Medical Center, and Fresno Surgical Hospital. Also on the list are Clovis Community Medical Center, Porterville Development Center, and Sierra View District Hospital.
Saint Agnes say they're the largest medicare provider in the area – with more than 50% of their patients treated under the program. They're set to lose almost $500,000 dollars.
According to the Fresno Bee – CRMC could lose more than a $1 million in funding – with Clovis Community losing around $200,000.
