FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — There's loaded and then there's over-loaded as marijuana growers discovered the hard way Monday morning in south Fresno.
Marijuana growers nearly burned down their grow house located at Fowler and Clinton by stealing electrical power directly from the pole and in doing so, over-loaded their growing lights, according to the Fresno Fire Department.
Spokesperson Pete Martinez said the illegal hookup was too much for the old wooden abandoned house.
"It was bypassing the electrical panel and stealing power from PG&E," Martinez said.
Crews initially found about 50 plants in the house, but when turned over to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, more than 1,000 plants were reportedly discovered.
