PG&E Begins Largest Power Shutoffs In State History

(KMJ) – Pacific Gas & Electric has begun cutting power to tens of thousands of customers in the first phase of the largest public safety power shutoff in California history.

The power could potentially be cut to more than 800,000 customers in 34 counties – including Kern and Mariposa.

Strong winds and potentially dangerous fire weather conditions are prompting the cutting of power.  And PG&E says, depending on damage, service may not be returned to some areas until early next week.
