FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A former Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy is rearrested for dissuading a witness.

51-year-old David Raquenio was first arrested on domestic violence charges in May, 2019.

Clovis Police arrested Raquenio again on Wednesday, August 14th.

He was also booked and currently in the Fresno Country Jail on one felony charge of “Violation of a stay away or protection order.”

His bail is $305,000.00.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office released a statement about Raquenio on Friday.

“David Raquenio is no longer an employee with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. We are aware of his rearrest and continue to take appropriate action to deal with the matter.”

Sheriff’s Spokesperson Tony Botti said that while Clovis PD is leading the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office is also conducting an internal affairs investigation into the 19-year veteran.

Earlier in the year, Raquenio had been highlighted for his rescue efforts for a couple trapped in their car during a storm in Shaver Lake in January.

Raquenio was also awarded a ‘Top Cop Award’ for his response to a crash that happened in 2016.
