Calif. AG Accuses EPA of Failing to Protect Groundwater

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Democratic California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has sent a letter to the EPA, accusing the agency of failing to ensure cleanup of groundwater contamination.

So-called PFA contaminants include thousands of chemicals in products such as wrinkle-free clothing, food packaging, and non-stick cooking spray. They’ve been dubbed “forever chemicals,” as they often don’t break down, and can have deadly health impacts.

Groundwater monitoring data has shown PFA contaminants, at more than 640 sites in 43 states.

Becerra is joined by the attorneys general of Colorado and Oregon, in urging the feds to take action.
