FRESNO (KMJ) -Experts from the DMV are coming to Fresno this Friday for an informational workshop hosted by Assemblyman Jim Patterson.

Their mission: to help clarify what documents are required to get a Real ID.

There has been a great deal of confusion surrounding birth certificates, marriage documentation, social security cards, as well as how people who use a PO Box can show proof of address.

Those without a passport or another federally approved document will need a Real ID to fly on an airplane in the United States starting in October of 2020.

The DMV has said it expects an increase in customers this summer as more people are made aware of next year’s federal enforcement date.

If you’d like to attend, the event will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at Clovis West High School auditorium. To RSVP, click here, or call 559-446-2029.
