FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Around 1500 elementary and middle school students will be at the Fresno Fairgrounds for the Young Authors’ Faire.

From kindergartners to 8th graders, students from 46 schools and 15 school districts will participate Wednesday in what is considered a celebration of their literary work.

The Young Authors’ Fair showcases original books by the local young authors and illustrators, ranging from fiction to non-fiction, poems and narratives.

“We display their books which are really works of art,” said Lisa Birrell, the Communications and Public Relations Officer from the Office of the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, which hosts the event.

Birrell anticipates a large turnout.

“Students bring their families and friends. There’s also booths with fun activities for children, from coloring to making videos. At the end of the event, we’ll award medals to all of the top students and it’s just a lot of fun and I encourage families to attend,” said Birrell.
