SACRAMENTO, CA (KMJ) – A budget committee hearing involving the DMV was taking place Tuesday at the State.
The hearing comes after an audit released in March showed poor planning as responsible for issues at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
It’s the same day that the Department of Technology had a “hardware failure,” causing a connectivity issue for several state departments, including the DMV.
There were an additional 50 offices affected by a subsequent issue.
Valley Assemblymember Jim Patterson was at the hearing, asking about one process that he says is still flawed – tracking the wait times for customers which he said is “at best, unclear, and at worst, deceiving.”
The DMV is asking for 242 million dollars and 2000 new employees saying they would have a 5 year plan.
Lawmakers question if money will actually solve the problem, saying they need to see a plan first.
