FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A man is in the hospital after an Officer-Involved Shooting in Fresno’s Mayfair District.
The shooting took place on the 3400 block of East Circle Court near Clinton and First.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Investigators were speaking to a group of people on a sidewalk, behind the yellow tape.
KMJ News learned that sometime after noon on Friday shots were fired, and deputies responded.
KMJ spoke with ‘Cesar’ who lives in the neighborhood, and said the man who was hit lives in the home.
The man was rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency surgery. Neighbors say he was conscious when he was transported.
No Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies were injured in the shooting.

At 2:35 pm on Friday, a woman called dispatchers at the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office to report a man was threatening to kill her and a family members. Deputies were dispatched to a home on the 3400 block of Circle Court East in Fresno’s Mayfair District. Deputies arrived at the home and were confronted by a man standing near the driveway / sidewalk area who was armed with a knife, waving it around. Deputies ordered him to get back and drop the knife multiple times. The man refused and a deputy fired his handgun, striking the suspect. Deputies immediately began to give the suspect medical treatment and called for an ambulance. EMS personnel arrived and transported the suspect to the hospital. He has gone into surgery and his condition is unknown. The suspect’s name is not being released at this time. He is believed to be in his mid to late 30s. Homicide detectives and members of the Crime Scene Unit arrived to the scene to interview witnesses and collect evidence. At a later time, detectives will interview all of the deputies involved in the direct encounter with the suspect.
