Yosemite High School Student Arrested, Homemade Bow & Arrow Recovered

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A student is arrested Friday afternoon, after a lock down at Yosemite High School.

Around 12:30 p.m., staff told the School Resource Deputy that a disgruntled male student was on campus, possibly armed with a weapon.

When the Deputy attempted to approach him he fled, leading Deputies on a foot chase in surrounding neighborhoods before he was eventually detained just after 1:00 p.m.

Yosemite High School, Oak Creek Intermediate School, and Oakhurst Elementary were all placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure as Deputies searched for the subject.

The lock down was lifted afterwards, and the school said there was no further threat to students, staff, or the surrounding area.

Deputies recovered a homemade bow and arrow and are currently investigating the possibility of a second weapon.

The 17-year-old male juvenile, whose identity will not be released, was taken into custody and booked in at Madera County Juvenile Hall without incident.
