Visalia Narcotics Detective Posts Bail After Proceedings in Tulare County

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A Visalia Narcotics Detective is out on bail after proceedings Monday in a Tulare County courtroom.

Bryan Ferreria entered a not guilty plea on all counts.

He’s one of two Visalia narcotics detectives facing prison time after being charged with 38 felonies, and five misdemeanors.

Ferreria’s partner Shane Logan is facing 22 felony counts.

According to the complaint filed on Friday, Nov. 16, Tulare County DA Tim Ward (above) says SWAT members Bryan Ferreira and Shane Logan allegedly created fake search warrants for drug deals that never happened.

“Search warrants were obtained based upon controlled narcotic buys which did not occur, and that the defendants wrote false police reports,” said DA Ward, speaking on Friday. “This led to a join investigation between the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation, and the Tulare Police Department.”

40 cases have already been dropped, and the District Attorney’s office believes that number will increase as the investigation continues.

Both Ferreria and Logan (above) have been on paid administrative leave since Spring.

They will face charges as co-defendants.

The judge set three conditions on Monday; Ferreria could have no contact with former confidential informants, he could have no contact with Logan, and he had to surrender any firearms.

Ferreria’s bail was set at $575,000 on Nov. 16, but was reduced to $100,000.

According to the Visalia Times Delta, Ferreria posted bail Monday and was released.

Both Ferreria and Logan will return to court on Dec. 12, for a preliminary hearing setting.
