FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – California Department of Motor Vehicle customers were affected by a system outage Thursday morning..

More than 60 offices were affected up and down the state.

The problem was fixed around 11:00 Thursday morning

The DMV says the cause of this latest problem was a quote “router issue,” but that didn’t help Lupe Esparza who waited three hours to renew his license in Fresno at the DMV on Blackstone.

“They had the same problem 20-25 years ago, the computers were outdated, and here we are again, said Esparza.

This latest outage comes after an audit of the department was rejected last month, with Fresno Assemblyman Jim Patterson leading the charge.

“By our count, the 36th outage of this nature in the last 18 months, so we are now seeing a pattern,” said Assemblyman Patterson.

Patterson says he’ll be bringing the matter back to Sacramento, next year.
