CA GOP Candidate John Cox Visits Fresno DMV, Calls Attention to Wait Times

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Gubernatorial Candidate John Cox visits a Fresno DMV on Friday, calling attention to wait times.

John Cox invited the local press to join him as he walked through the DMV office on Blackstone Avenue, shaking hands, passing out water, and speaking to people.

Some had been sitting a short time waiting for service, others, like Austin Mullen (below), who drove down from Oakhurst, had been there four hours to get his motorcycle license.

“I’ve been visiting DMV’s all across the state, now it just so happens today must be a light day here in Fresno, but I was talking to people in there who know about offices there in Madera where is there’s an eight hour wait,” said Cox.

Cox says the system is broken, and despite an additional $70 million to reduce wait times across California, he says they’re 60 percent longer.

Several state legislators including Jim Patterson, have requested an audit of the DMV but were denied by a joint legislative.

Cox says he, too, wants the DMV to be audited, and said “this state needs to be managed a lot better than it is right now.”

Cox faces against his democratic competitor Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom in November.
