CA May Require Kids’ Meals Come with Water or Unflavored Milk

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California Assembly has approved a bill, that if signed into law, would require that the default beverage for kids’ meals be water or unflavored milk.

Supporters say it would help cut down on diabetes and obesity, although customers could still request juice or soda as an alternative.

The measure does not state whether restaurants are to charge extra for a substitution.

It now heads back to the Senate for final approval, before heading to the governor’s desk.
