Baby Born At CRMC To Extraordinary Circumstances, By Pregnant Mom With Very Rare Condition

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A baby is born to extraordinary circumstances, by a pregnant mom who came in to CRMC with a very rare condition.

Ketxali Maldonado had 5 teams of physician specialists from Community Regional Medical Center working over two months to save her life.

Maldonado had placenta accreta, where the placenta had grown into her uterus. It had also grown into her bladder.

She wrote out her will, and put her affairs in order as she as not expected to survive.

“She had had previous C-sections, so they knew that this had a really high potential of hemorrhage and that it could be fatal for the mom and the baby,” said Leslie Botos.

Leslie Botos from Central California Blood Center called KMJ to recruit an extraordinary number of donors to give the extraordinary amount of blood that could be needed for the birth on Friday.

“I’ve been in blood banking almost 32 years, and for me the joy was seeing that what we do everyday and what we worry about and the many calls that we make to you, to ask your listeners to step up and help, and it’s people helping people,” said Botos. “And in our Valley, we all came though and the results are astounding,”
