7 Arrested, Joint Narcotics Operation Seizes Drugs, Guns And Cash: Fresno County Sheriff’s Office

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) Seven people were arrested in a joint law enforcement effort to remove drugs and guns from the streets..

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims and US Attorney for the Eastern District of California, McGregor “Greg” Scott made the announcement at a press conference on Wednesday, June 20th at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters.

The narcotics operation started in November of 2017.

Sheriff Mims said the investigation began because of a traffic stop for an expired registration.

A Fresno County sheriff’s deputy stopped the vehicle and a search turned up methamphetamine.

The driver, David Steward of Fresno, was arrested with a pound of meth as well as heroine and prescription drugs.

The case was forwarded to the sheriff’s drug enforcement unit, which led to the multi-agency drug investigation.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, working with the DEA, and the FBI have together seized 46 pounds of meth, more than 200 marijuana plants, 3 pounds of processed marijuana, $10,000 in cash, and five weapons.

Agencies involved are the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, U.S. Marshal’s Service, Fresno Police Department, Kings County Sheriff’s Office, Tulare County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security and FBI.
