UPDATE: Madera Train Derailment Cleared, Roads Open

 

UPDATE: 4:15 p.m. – The derailed train has been cleared and roads are back up.

 

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – A freight train derailment outside of madera, is causing delays for San Joaquins train.

Two train engines and one railcar came off the tracks northeast of Madera.

The derailed cars are blocking Avenue 12 completely.

Eastbound traffic is closed at Road 30 1/2 and westbound traffic is closed at Road 32, and 33 1/2.

 

Crews are assessing the damage.

A bus bridge is currently in affect between Fresno and Merced.

The tracks are the BNSF main line tracks, which are also used by Amtrak.

 

 

Amtrak San Joaquins‏ tweeting that you can call 1-800-USA-RAIL – for information regarding your reservation.

Right now it isn’t known how long before the tracks will reopen.
