Study Links Allergic Reaction to Red Meat to Heart Disease

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — An allergic reaction to red meat could be to blame for some cases of heart disease.

That’s according to a new study published in a peer-reviewed journal of the American Heart Association.

Researchers say while high levels of saturated fat in red meat have been long associated with heart disease, some be at an increased risk because of an under-recognized food allergy.

Still, it’s unclear just how much of the U.S. population has such a reaction to red meat.
