Calif. Sues EPA Over Pesticide Standards

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Democratic California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is suing the federal Environmental Protection Agency, over its decision to indefinitely suspend pesticide safety training, under the Agricultural Worker Protection Standard.

The training was implemented in 2015, as an update to the regulations that were first implemented in 1992.

Becerra’s lawsuit alleges that EPA Director Scott Pruitt is unlawfully denying farm workers the tools they need, to protect themselves from dangerous chemicals.

It’s Becerra’s 11th lawsuit against the EPA, none of which have been resolved.
