Two Brand Name Dog Treats Recalled

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Dog treats sold under two brand names are being recalled because they may make dogs sick.

They may contain elevated levels of what the company calls a “naturally-occurring” beef thyroid hormone.

Merrick Pet Care issued the recall after one complaint that a dog got sick while eating Merrick Backcountry Great Plains Real Beef Jerky.

The recall applies to that variety and four others sold under the Merrick and Castor & Pollux brand names.
