Gilbert Gomez

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office most wanted person of the week is:

Gilbert Gomez of Fresno.  A judge has issued an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on an felony assault charge.

Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home near Belmont and Marks Avenue in Fresno to investigate a report of a woman being assaulted.  Deputies discovered Gilbert Gomez had gotten upset with a family member, knocked her to the ground and then began to strangle her.  The woman broke free and tried to use her cell phone to call the Sheriff’s Office for help.  While doing so, Gomez ripped the phone out of her hands and slammed it on the ground, causing it to break.  The woman was able to run to a neighbor’s house and use their phone to call 911.  Gomez left the home and deputies were unable to find him.

An arrest warrant was issued for Gomez and deputies located him at a later time and arrested him.  He was booked into the Fresno County Jail.  Gomez spent two weeks in custody and then bailed out.  He has since failed to show up to his scheduled court hearings.

Gilbert Gomez is 21 years old, 5’4”, 150 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair.
