Nunes: Congressional Shooting “Slipped Through” Security Precautions

FRESNO (KMJ) — Valley Congressman Devin Nunes says there’s “no indication” that the suspect behind the shooting at the Republican congressional baseball team practice was a follower of ISIS or Al-Qaeda.

The 22nd congressional district representative reveals that House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who was shot in the hip during the incident, was likely not the target.

The now-deceased gunman has been identified as 66-year-old James T. Hodgkinson, of Belleville IL.

Officers say he used M-4 assault rifle.

Social media reveals that Hodgkinson was a supporter of Bernie Sanders, who has condemned the attack.

“We do take precautions when we’re outside of the Capitol, this is just one that kind of just slipped through. When you have a lot of members in one place, it becomes a bigger target,” add Nunes.
